The DSB proudly presented Delta Community Credit Union with the Department of Education NW Region Business Partner of the Year Award this past July at the GACTE conference. This was in addition to presenting them with the Business Partner of the Year Award in May. Delta Community Credit Union has been an outstanding supporter of the Work Based Learning and our students. They are an example of the impact business partnerships have on the success of our students. Please contact Mr. Joshua Ford if you are interested in being a future business partner at CHS and to support the Work Based Learning program for the future success of our students and local businesses.
Developed by a School committee, “Mindforce” is an educational program that provides creative problem solving opportunities for students from Kindergarten through Grade 12. Student teams from schools apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics.
They bring their solutions to the Mindforce competition. In Mindforce, students learn at a young age skills that will last a lifetime. Mindforce teaches lessons that benefit students in and out of the program. The students are expected to prepare their solutions to the problems by working collaboratively.
On Saturday, three teams of intermediate students from CJS competed in the Mindforce program at Vista Academy. Mr. Carroll, our grade 8 teacher, worked with the students as a coach over several months to guide and support them in preparing their solutions to the problems.
